A great wedding photography checklist should make sure the important people, details, and traditions are documented—while leaving enough space for the real moments to happen.
Here’s what we recommend.
Getting ready is about more than photographing the dress and rings. It’s the anticipation, nerves, laughter, and people surrounding you before everything begins.
Make sure your photographer knows about meaningful details like heirlooms, letters, gifts, cultural traditions, or anything else with a story behind it.
Your photographer should already know to capture the major moments: entrances, reactions, vows, rings, first kiss, and the walk back down the aisle.
But some of the best photographs happen elsewhere.
A parent’s reaction. Your best friend crying. The quick glance you exchange during the ceremony.
Those aren’t checklist photographs. They’re moments your photographer needs to recognize.
This is where a list actually helps.
Create a concise list of important family combinations before the wedding. Let your photographer know about divorces, family dynamics, mobility concerns, or other situations that could affect portraits.
Keeping this organized means less time posing and more time celebrating.
You don’t need a giant shot list.
Make time for portraits and trust your photographer to guide you. We’ll help when direction is needed, but we also want you interacting naturally.
Laugh. Walk. Talk. Hold each other.
Be present, not performing.
Entrances, speeches, first dances, cake cutting, and other traditions should be documented—but don’t forget the atmosphere around them.
Your photographer should also be watching for hugs, reactions, ridiculous dance moves, quiet conversations, and everything happening between the scheduled events.
Leave room for the unexpected.
